Welcome to the new release of DBL. While our platform has undergone a significant redesign, we want to reassure you that the core features and functionality you've come to rely on remain intact. Our latest update focuses on enhancing the overall user experience, making it smoother and more intuitive than ever. However, there are a few key changes we're excited to share with you.

Personal Accounts

Now, anyone can create a personal account on DBL. This new feature allows individual users to browse our platform and download open access content freely. For content that is not marked as open access, users will need to be part of an organization to download or request a license. This change makes DBL more accessible to a wider audience, ensuring that more users can benefit from our resources.

Creating an Organization

Creating an organization within DBL is now more straightforward than before, thanks to our enhanced Member Application process. We've simplified the steps required to set up an organization and submit it for review. Once your organization is approved, you can invite others to join and help manage your new entity, streamlining collaboration and management within the platform.

Renamed Organization Types

In our efforts to simplify the terminology, Intellectual Property Contributors (IPC) are now called Owners, and Library Card Holders (LCH) are referred to as Distributors. This new language better articulates the ways organizations interact within DBL. It's important to note that an organization can still be both - Owner and Distributor - as they previously could.

Simplified Roles

We've reduced the number of roles in DBL and updated their names for greater clarity. Each role now has a straightforward name that better describes its functions. For a detailed outline of what each role entails, please refer to our updated article on user roles and permissions.
