Formatting with Markdown
Markdown is a lightweight markup language that allows you to add formatting to your text in your organization’s profile, content items (via copyright information), and license templates.
See the website markdownguide.org for a user-friendly explanation for how to use Markdown or just jump to the Markdown syntax page to get a quick start.
Here’s a simple example to show how Markdown is used. With this Markdown input:
# About the Digital Bible Library The Digital Bible Library (DBL) is the largest repository of scripture in multiple formats. Managing this extensive collection is a complex task. It's vital that the content remains **accessible**, **usable**, and **secure**, both now and in the years to come.
The output would be as follows:

Where to use Markdown in DBL
When you see a text area with an editor that has a row along the top with formatting buttons, you can stylize your text by using those buttons. Alternatively, you can enter your text in Markdown format. (HTML format is also supported.)
While you’re in the editor, click on the Preview button at the top to see what the text will look like to DBL members.
