Translation Resources
Under the License tab of a content item’s detail view, the last section is titled: “Translation resources.” License managers within the contributor organization can manage access for the content to be used for translation work.
Click on the Edit translation resource button to manage.
Note that if your content has an Open access agreement, then the screen will show this notification box, explaining that all tools are available to all translation tools and you won't be able to edit.
For content with Controlled access agreement, the edit screen allows the License manager set permissions for which tools are available in translation tools. As shown, the settings are:
- Unavailable - none of your tools will be available to anyone
- All tools - all your tools will be available in all translation tools
- Specific tools - selected translations tools can be made available to specific organizations
If the Specified tools option is selected, a list of translation tools will appear. For each tool, you can choose from two menu options: Make resource available or Make resource unavailable.
Some translation tools, like Paratext, have additional settings to configure access. When you click on Configure access in the menu to the right, you can restrict access to specific users or organizations.
If the All registered users option is selected, all Paratext users can access this translation resource tool. When this option is selected, one additional checkbox will appear. Check that box to restrict access only to translators who agree to FOBAI standards.
If the Specified users or organizations option is selected, there are 2 boxes to check that allow access to:
- “Available to users with a translation of publication role in an approved organization” refers to any Paratext translator with an organization that agrees to abide by FOBAI principles.
- “Specific users or organizations” will open up another section for you to select users and organizations to grant access, even if they don’t have a Controlled access agreement.
When the “Specific users or organizations” box is checked, another section will open for you to selectively add users or organizations. Type in the corresponding search box and matching names will appear:
Click the Save tool configuration button to finish.
