Identifying your Data

The first phase in uploading your content to DBL is the descriptive phase. This is divided into two parts:

  • Identifying
  • Rights

Before you dive into identifying your content, you will first be asked to identify the organization for which you are uploading content (if you are part of multiple organizations).

Identifying

Once you’ve selected the relevant organization, fill in the following fields regarding the content:

  • Identifiable Information
    • Name - this is the preferred English name used to refer to the content.
    • Local name (optional) - the local name for the content.
    • Abbreviation - the abbreviated name in English.
    • Local abbreviation (optional) - the abbreviated name in the local language.
    • Description - description of the content in English. 
    • Local description (optional) - description of the content in the local language.
    • Promotional description - this description will be displayed wherever the content is presented in DBL and other systems.
    • Scope - select the Biblical scope of the work - is it the Old Testament, New Testament, the entire Bible?
    • Completion date - when was the initial publication of this content or when was it initially completed?

  • Language
    • Language - type either the language name or the ISO Code. The field will automatically populate  with the relevant information. Click ‘Show advanced’ to show advanced fields such as Language name, ISO Code, Local Name, Language Identifier (LMDL), and Dialect (ROD).
    • Script - search the script by name or code, and we’ll populate the information we know. Click ‘Show advanced’ to show advanced fields such as Script name, Script code, and Script direction.
    • Numerals system (optional) -  select the preferred numeral system for displaying digits in the scripture (e.g. chapter and verse number).

  • Country - search the country by name or by ISO Code. Click ‘show advanced’ to see advanced editable fields such as Country Name, ISO Code, and Local name. You can also add another country if necessary.

  • Publications - additional publications for this content can be added by clicking ‘Add Publication’ and filling in the aforementioned information for the second publication.

Next, you’ll fill out information as it relates to Rights.
