Requesting a License in DBL

Step 1: Navigate to License Management

  1. From the dashboard navigation bar, click on "License" to access the license management section.
  2. Click the “New” button in the top-right corner.
  3. Select “Request Agreement” to begin the process of requesting access to content.

Step 2: Search for Content to License

A "Request an Agreement" window will appear.

Use the search bar to find the content you need:

  • Enter the content name or keyword.
  • Select the correct content item from the results.

Ensure the content is provided by the correct Contributor organization to avoid requesting access from the wrong source.

Step 3: Choose a License Template (If Required)

Some agreements require a pre-approved template to outline licensing terms. If prompted:

  1. Shared Templates: These are recommended and provided by the Contributor for consistency in agreements.
  2. Owned Templates: Templates created and managed by your organization (rare for requesters).
  3. Community Templates: Templates available for broader use across DBL.
  • Select the relevant template from the list.
  • Click “Preview” to review the terms and conditions before proceeding.

Step 4: Provide Additional Information (Optional)

Note (Optional): You can add a message to the Contributor explaining the reason for your request or providing additional context.

Step 5: Submit the License Request

Review all selected details.

Click “Send Request” to submit the request for review.

The Contributor organization will be notified and can approve or deny your request and you will receive an email confirmation once the Contributor reviews the request.

After Submission: Tracking Your Request

Once submitted, you can track your request’s status under the License Management section. Possible statuses include:
