Community Templates
Community templates are available in the library for all DBL organizations to generate an agreement to license content items for use by Distributor organizations. Community templates are added by the DBL Team and Contributor organizations for anyone to use. Community templates also include all the Open access templates.
A Contributor organization’s License Manager can share their templates for anyone to use. This makes it easier for other DBL organizations to license their content by selecting a Community template that is available to them. This in turn helps our DBL community to collaborate and work better together.
For Distributors
If a Distributor wants to use a Community template to access content, their License Manager can request such an agreement to use a selected DBL content item in 2 ways:
- Click the “New” button in the top-right corner and select “Request Agreement” to begin the process.
- Select a content item while browsing the content library by clicking on the corresponding View link. On the content item details page, click on the License tab, then click on the Request agreement button.
The next step is to Choose a template. Get detailed instructions in the article How to Get a License.
Since there are many templates, you might be asking “which template should I choose?” The short answer is to choose the template that both the Contributor and Distributor agree to use in creating the license agreement.
To contact the Contributor, view the content item you’re interested in licensing, view the organization details to find their License Manager’s email, and then contact them to inquire which template to use for licensing the content item.
Choosing a Community template
Under the section titled Community templates, choose an available template from the dropdown list. Make sure to Preview the agreement that is generated from the template and understand the details of the agreement. If everything is acceptable, proceed to click the Send request button.
For Contributors
To view all the Community templates, navigate to the License tab at the top of the dashboard, then click on the Browse templates button to the right.
When a Contributor organization shares a template with the community, it will first be reviewed by the DBL Care Team. After approval, it will be made available for anyone to use. While browsing community templates, an extra section may appear at the top labeled Pending review, if you’ve contributed a community template that is waiting on review and approval.
For instructions on how to contribute a community template, see the article titled How to Share Templates.
