Content License

All DBL content items can be licensed as either Open access or Controlled access. When you view a content summary page, click on the License tab under the gray header with the content title.

Open access means any DBL member (individual users and organizations) may have immediate access and freely download content for use. Please comply with the licensing and attribution terms and conditions.

Controlled access means only DBL organizations may be granted a license agreement to access and distribute the content according to the terms in the agreement.

For Distributor Organizations

If you’re with a distributor organization in DBL, click on the Request agreement button to initiate the process for licensing to access the Controlled access content item.

For Individuals

Individual users may freely browse and download Open access content.

If you’re an individual user who works with an organization that is not yet a Distributor member of the DBL, click on the Add organization button to create a membership application.

If your organization already has an account in DBL, coordinate with the DBL account manager of your organization to add you with the role of License Manager and then you can request licensing for Controlled access content.

For Contributor Organizations

If you’re a contributor organization and you don’t have any license templates selected, you will see a section titled Get started with templates. Read the article titled Managing Templates for more details.

After your organization has at least one license template selected, you can grant controlled access to your content by clicking on the Create agreement button. License managers may also manage all license agreements and requests.

Translation Resources

In the bottom section, license managers within the contributor organization can manage access to this content for translation work.
