Managing Templates

This article provides step-by-step instructions for managing license templates in the Digital Bible Library (DBL), including creating, editing, assigning, and archiving templates.

License templates provide a structured framework for creating licensing agreements, ensuring consistency across different agreements through the use of predefined legal terms and auto-fill fields.

Accessing License Templates

To view and manage license templates:

  1. Navigate to the License Management section in DBL.
  2. Click on the Template Library tab.
  3. Browse available templates or filter them by Owned, Shared, or Community templates.

Creating and Editing License Templates

New templates can be created in the Template Library by defining key terms such as agreement type and licensing conditions. Existing templates can also be updated, but changes will only apply to new agreements and will not modify agreements already in use.

For full instructions on creating and editing templates, see How to Set Up a License Agreement.

Assigning a Template to an Agreement

When drafting an agreement, License Managers can select a predefined template to streamline the process. Templates help standardize content usage terms while allowing necessary modifications before submission.

For a detailed guide on using templates when drafting an agreement, see Drafting an Agreement.

Archiving Templates

Templates that are no longer needed can be archived to remove them from active use. Once archived, templates cannot be assigned to new agreements, but they remain accessible for reference.
