Publishing Dashboard
The term ‘Publishing’ refers to the process of uploading content to the DBL. The Publishing Dashboard is the hub for managing one content item that your organization owns. Only content managers of a DBL contributor organization can access this dashboard.
This dashboard is used to publish revision 1 of an item, to draft and publish a new revision, to delete an in-progress upload (unpublished), and to archive published content.
There are 3 major sections with several parts under each section. The upload process consists of 8 parts that require data to be entered or files to be uploaded.
Sections overview
- Descriptive: content info that identifies your content and make it easy to find and rights info
- Structural: info about the content’s format, order of Scripture, and uploading of the actual files
- Administrative: connection to other systems or content as well as the visibility status in DBL

Anytime during the Upload Content process, click on the ‘Save and exit‘ button in the upper right corner to save your work in progress. This allows you to come back later to complete the publishing process.
The Publishing Dashboard displays the status of each part in the uploading process, as indicated by the status chip for each part:
- Not started: no content data added yet
- In progress: some content data has been added
- Complete: all the required content data has been added
When a part is not started, click on the Begin button to start adding content metadata or upload files. When a part is in process or complete, click the Edit button to add more content information. This is an example of what the Publishing Dashboard looks like:

Publish Content
After you’ve completed uploading all the parts, scroll to the bottom section titled "FOBAI Standards":

Please review all the content metadata and files, then check the box to confirm the content complies with FOBAI standards. And, click on the Generate file link to create the content metadata XML.
Click Publish content to finish and the content will be listed in the DBL Content Library.

Delete Content
Click on the Delete content link at the bottom of the Publishing Dashboard to delete all the unpublished in-process draft content (or revision) that has been uploaded to DBL.
Please be cautious about this operation, since clicking Delete content will delete all saved work in this revision draft, and that data cannot be recovered.

Note: After a content item is published to the DBL content library, the item can only be unpublished and cannot be deleted from DBL at this time. When an item is unpublished, it will no longer be available to any DBL member.
Terms to Know
Revision 1 draft: As the content item is in progress of being uploaded to DBL, it is called an initial revision, or revision 1.
Published: Once the content is published for the first time in the upload process, it will be published as Revision 1. For subsequent revisions, the content item will go from in progress to a published status.
FOBAI Standards ("Forum of Bible Agencies International" standards): a set of guidelines established by a coalition of Bible translation organizations to ensure accuracy, faithfulness, and clarity when translating the Bible into different languages. DBL requires Contributors to upload content that adheres and complies with these standards. View the translation standards at forum-intl.org/resources/translation-standards
Revision #: When a content item is updated (e.g. changes to the metadata, files added or revised, description modified, etc.), the updated content is saved and may be republished as the next revision number. Only the currently published revision is accessible for download.
Archived: A content item can be archived, removing it from the browse content / list view. It will remain saved on the DBL platform for storage purposes. For more info, read the article Archive files.
Unpublished: In the browse content / list view, the Unpublished tab contains content items that are owned by your organization. The content is either in a state of in-progress upload or archived.
